VP Issues Update

ree

Greetings from St Kitts, scene of BPW International Congress, 17 to 22 November.

BPW New Zealand has put forward a resolution on pay discrimination and in related news,

I wanted to share about the new Gender Pay Gap Calculator .

Recently launched by the Ministry for Women, this is a new tool for businesses to better understand and address pay equity within their organisations. This online calculator provides a straightforward way to assess pay differences between men and women in an organisation, allowing employers to identify disparities and consider actions toward equitable pay practices.

This resource is especially significant for BPW New Zealand (we've been advocating for actions on the gender pay gap since the 1930s), but also for members and the wider community of women in business, as it offers an accessible, data-driven approach to tracking and improving gender equity. By equipping companies with the means to measure their progress, the Gender Pay Gap Calculator is expected to drive accountability and support the push for transparent, equitable wages. For our members advocating for change, this calculator offers an opportunity to engage with employers and promote best practices in workplace equity - you can check it out at https://www.women.govt.nz/gender-pay-gaps/gender-pay-gap-toolkit

Ka kite,

Siobhan Dilly
