Maori Women's Welfare League Conference 2024

It was a privilege to attend the pouwhiri on the first day of the MWWL 70th National

conference held in Ngaruawahia at Turangawaewae Marae.

I joined other guests of Dr. Hope Tupara the National President. Guests included Ministers

of Parliament, representatives from YWCA, NCW and BPW NZ along with Indigenous

people of Ottawa, Canada, Bishop, and Lady Moxon alongside the MWWL Executive board.

Waikato Tainui welcomed us onto their marae in the presence of the Kingitanga Kuini Nga

wai hono I te po. Informative korero, presentations from young to older was the highlight

followed by kaihakari – impressive catering for hundreds.

I left having enjoyed the company of like-minded women building on our relationships

focusing on similar mahi.
