BPW NZ Speaks Out on Pay Equity

By the time you read this, I’ll be in Malaysia, easing into the rhythm of travel ahead of the Asia Pacific Conference later this month. I’m proud to be part of a nine-women strong delegation representing New Zealand — one of our biggest groups yet.

But even while we’re overseas, the work doesn’t stop. BPW NZ joins a growing number of organisations and individuals raising serious concerns about the Government’s rollback of pay equity claims, through the Equal Pay Amendment Act 2025.

The People’s Select Committee will hold its first oral submission hearing on 11 August, providing a critical platform for those adversely affected by the proposed legislation to be heard.

BPW NZ has submitted a formal response to the Act. You can read our submission here.

As momentum builds in this space, we urge all members and supporters to stay informed and take action. Listen to the voices of women across Aotearoa who are calling for justice and equity — and stand with them.

Get engaged:

BPW NZ encourages all members to speak out, share our advocacy work, and engage with both local and national decision-makers. Your voice strengthens our collective impact. Together, we can defend and advance pay equity for all women in Aotearoa New Zealand.
